Simple Present Tense
Dalam bahasa Inggris, Simple Present Tense digunakan untuk Menyatakan :

  1.  peristiwa atau kejadian, kegiatan, aktivitas dan sebagainya yang terjadi saat ini.
  2. Kegiatan atau aktifitas tejadi berulang-ulang (rutin) dan kebiasaan
  3. Fakta
The Formula

1. Menggunakan VERB
Positif:                                         S + V1 (s/es) + O + Adverb of time (NOT necessary)
 Negatif:                                       S + DO/DOES + NOT + V1 + O  + Adverb of time
Tanya:                                         DO/DOES + S + V1 + Adverb of time

INGAT !!

  • Penambahan s/es pada VERB hanya berlaku untuk Subject HE, SHE dan IT, sedangkan untuk Subject I, YOU, WE dan THEY, tidak memerlukan penambahan s/es.
  • Penggunaan auxiliary verb DO pada kalimat tanya hanya berlaku untuk Subject I, YOU, WE dan THEY , sedangkan auxiliary DOES untuk Subject HE, SHE dan IT.

Contoh :

(+)  She watches TV
(-)  She doesn't watch TV
(?) Does she watch TV

Note :
Perhatikan bahwa dalam kalimat negatif dan tanya, Verb dikembalikan ke bentuk semula, tanpa penambahan s/es.

(+) They play football
(-)  They don't play football
(?) Do they play Foot ball ?

2. Menggunakan BE (is, am, are)
I --> am
He/She/It --> is
You/We/They --> are

Contoh :

She is a tailor
They are doctors
